Graded Manga
Graded manga for sale — the West Blue Collectibles catalog of professionally graded, slab-sealed manga from Beckett (BGS), CGC, and CBCS. Every graded manga in this collection is independently authenticated, condition-rated, and permanently sealed in a tamper-evident acrylic case. If you collect investment-grade manga, this is where the verified slabs live.
Why collectors choose graded manga
A graded manga is a manga volume that has been professionally inspected, condition-rated on a 1.0–10.0 scale, sealed inside a tamper-evident slab, and assigned a permanent certification number you can verify with the grading company. For serious collectors, that combination — independent grading + physical protection + lookup-verifiable cert — is the difference between speculating on condition and owning a known asset. The graded manga market has matured significantly since 2020, and Beckett-graded keys like One Piece Vol. 1, Naruto Vol. 1, Demon Slayer Vol. 1, and Dragon Ball Vol. 1 in BGS 9.0+ now trade in active secondary markets just like graded comics.
What we grade and slab
Our graded manga catalog spans both graded Japanese manga (Shueisha, Kodansha, Shogakukan tankōbon) and graded English manga (Viz, Tokyopop, Dark Horse, Yen Press). Every slab in this collection is BGS, CGC, or CBCS — we don't list private-label "graded" slabs. The vast majority are BGS, which is the dominant graded-manga grader; that's where the active resale market sits.
How grades affect price
Within a single series, the gap between condition tiers is steep at the top. A One Piece Vol. 1 1st print in BGS 9.4 commonly trades for 3–5x the BGS 8.5 of the same book. The half-grade increments matter because graded manga buyers are usually building a top-set, and a 9.4 will appreciate faster than a 9.0 in the same market. To see real graded-manga sale prices — not list prices — check our live manga price tracker, which aggregates sold listings from eBay, PWCC, and major auction houses across all three grading services.
Authenticity, cert lookup, and protection
Every graded manga listing at West Blue includes the BGS, CGC, or CBCS cert number visible in the photos, so you can verify the slab independently on the grader's own lookup tool before buying. The slab itself protects the book from any further wear, humidity, and UV damage — one of the main reasons graded manga is becoming the standard for long-term collectors. New to graded manga? Graded manga, frequently asked questions
-
What is graded manga?
Graded manga is a professionally inspected, sealed, and rated manga volume, slabbed in a tamper-evident acrylic case by Beckett (BGS). The grading company assigns a numeric grade from 1.0 to 10.0 based on the book's condition (corners, spine, page quality, surface, and overall preservation), authenticates the print run, and seals the book inside a protective holder forever. Graded slabs are the standard for serious manga collectors because the grade is independently verified and the book is protected from any further wear.
-
Is graded manga worth more than raw manga?
For key issues and high-grade copies, yes, sometimes by 5 to 10 times. A Japanese One Piece Vol. 1 1st print in BGS 9.4 can trade for multiples of the raw equivalent, because the grade certifies the condition is genuinely top-tier (not just "looks new"). For mid-series volumes, common condition tiers, or books worth under about $100 raw, grading costs more than it adds. The rule of thumb: grading is worth it when (a) the book is a key issue, and (b) a half-grade swing changes the market price by $100 or more. See our breakdown at why grade your manga.
-
Who grades manga right now?
BGS (Beckett Grading Services) is the only third-party grader actively running an at-scale manga grading program today. CGC is the long-established standard for American comics, and CBCS is the smaller of the legacy comic graders, but for manga specifically the entire serious collector market trades in BGS slabs. That is where the buyer pool, the population data, and the price discovery all sit. If you are buying or submitting in 2026, BGS is the practical answer.

Where can I see real graded manga prices?
West Blue runs a live manga price tracker that aggregates BGS-graded manga sold prices from eBay, PWCC, and major auction houses. You can filter by series, volume, and grade to see what a specific slab is actually trading for today rather than guessing from list prices. Updated daily.

How do I buy authentic graded manga online?
Stick to verified collectibles sellers that disclose the cert number, show the BGS label clearly in the photos, and ship in protective packaging. Every graded manga listing at West Blue Collectibles includes the slab cert number so you can verify it directly on Beckett's lookup. Avoid "graded" listings from unbranded marketplace sellers where the case looks generic or the cert number isn't shown, because counterfeit slabs do exist, especially for high-value One Piece, Naruto, and Demon Slayer keys.
