Near Mint (NM)
A Near Mint comic looks almost new. It may have very minor flaws that are hard to notice at first glance, such as a tiny spine tick or extremely light corner wear. Colors are bright, pages are clean, and the book has excellent eye appeal.
Very Fine (VF)
Very Fine comics show light signs of wear but are still very attractive. You may see small spine ticks, slight corner blunting, or minimal surface wear. The comic is well-preserved and displays nicely.
Fine (FN)
A Fine comic has noticeable wear but remains solid and complete. Common issues include visible spine stress, small creases, mild cover wear, or slight discoloration. Pages are usually intact but may be off-white or lightly aged.
Very Good (VG)
Very Good comics show clear wear from reading and handling. This can include multiple spine ticks, creases, small tears, or heavier corner wear. The comic is still complete but has reduced visual appeal.
Good (GD)
Good-condition comics are heavily worn but readable. They may have significant creasing, tears, loose staples, or noticeable discoloration. Collectors usually value these more for content than condition.
Fair / Poor (FR / PR)
These comics are very heavily damaged. Issues can include missing pieces, detached covers, severe tears, water damage, or heavy markings. These are typically collected only for very rare or historically important issues.
Note:
Grading is subjective, and small differences in opinion are normal. Photos should always be reviewed closely, and professional grading services may assign different final grades.
Berserk Volume 36 is part of Kentaro Miura's landmark dark fantasy manga series, widely regarded as one of the most influential works in seinen manga history, following the mercenary Guts through a brutal, meticulously illustrated world. First printings of Berserk volumes in English attract steady collector interest given the series' ongoing legacy following Miura's passing in 2021 and the finite nature of early print runs.
